Two familiar names on Bald Mountain are getting new hardware. In its September 16 winter announcement, Sun Valley Resort says the replacement Lookout Express and Christmas chairlifts are scheduled to open in December 2026. [1]
Lookout Express will be a high-speed six-person lift; Christmas will be a high-speed detachable quad. The resort expects the replacements to improve uphill capacity and reliability. These are planned openings, so check the resort’s updates before building a ski day around them. [1]
Why it matters here.
A useful item for the winter planning list: revisit your mountain routine once opening dates are confirmed. For a first visit or a full season here, knowing what is changing makes it easier to plan.
